In October 2017 Tangerine Dream performed twice (that is, on two consecutive nights) on the E-Live Festival in The Netherlands. Both gigs featured completely different set lists, including one improvised session each. The Sessions II now features these two sessions on a double CD, running more than 45 minutes each.

This album continues Tangerine Dream's 'Session' series that so far consists of:

Furthermore, with The Sessions II the so-called 'double cupdisc' series is continued.

The Eastgate Music Shop about the CD release"The Sessions II EP contains instant live compositions (about 95 min of music) from the current TD line-up Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane recorded from the Saturday and Sunday concerts at the E-Live Festival in Oirschot, The Netherlands in October 2017. Tangerine Dream are very much enjoying their new, respectively revived concept of performing an improvised session at the end of their concerts.
